I went sledding today. :)
It's very windy though not very cold. The wind was blowing the snow everywhere.
Basically, it's going up to the hill, then slide down. I did sand-sledding in Xinjiang where I had to walk all the steps on the slippery sand. Different places, different weather, different people, similar excitement.
It's just beautiful and tranquil. I just don't understand. Why Americans make money by making "exciting" games for sensation-seeking people. Can they not just open a restaurant by the lake and let people dine? Just make a place for people to meet and talk? Why all these skiing and sledding and screaming?
I miss the lochs in Scotland. I forgot the name already. Maybe Loch Mary. Jess was there. The restaurant had steel forks and spoons made in Hong Kong. I have no idea when Hong Kong was making and exporting steel. Ann said Hong Kong made good steel. But I really doubt if any of those factory is still in Hong Kong and not in China.
People make good food in Scotland. Americans eat junk. They rush to go to places and have fun. The British sit down, eat a good meal, and talk. I got to know people. I got to know their history. Here, I went out a whole day with the group and I barely remember their names.

I'll die... It's my first time to submit for a conference... I thought the deadline's April 15... Turns out it's March 15... I have three weeks...
My knees are in pain since yesterday. Maybe they can predict the snowstorm tomorrow...
My neck and shoulder are still bad... though at least I can sleep through the night.
Too much frustration dealing with the department. I'll try my best to treat my graduate students well when I become a faculty member myself.
Or what else can I do. I cannot kill those suckheads.

Had a nightmare yesterday morning right before I woke up... It's a swamp of bees at home... the cursed home in HK... Come on, what does it mean?

Just back from the Chinese New Year party by the Taiwanese group. :)
I won a prize for getting the lantern riddle. My goodness, mascara. :P
Then they sang "The Better Tomorrow." Great song.

My shoulder pain wouldn't go away at all. I feel like half bedridden. I'm having a hard time trying to sit down and get up, lie down and get up... Even the bumpy road or turning cause a lot of pain sitting in the car...
Was up to Winter Park. Well, most people went skiing but my knees won't do. I didn't do snowshoeing because my shoulder was in such horrible pain. So, I tried snowcat in the end.
Well, it's like a tank going on snow. Just sitting there. Not very exciting or challenging. It was snowing this morning so the visibility was poor. Will upload some photos soon... Don't want to sit in front of the computer too long. My shoulder hurts.
Then went to downtown Winter Park. It's only 5 minutes from the resort. I went to a restaurant called New Hong Kong... Sure I was expecting something like Hong Kong but it's nothing like Hong Kong food. Anyways, this is half expected.
Then I went back to the resort and sat down in Starbuck's to read my James Herriot. I was reading All Creatures Great and Small a second time. I miss London. I miss Scotland. I still think Scotland is more beautiful than here.
I had a lot of rainy and cloudy days in Scotland. But I found the mist beautiful. It's snowing in Winter Park all morning and I didn't like it much. I don't know. Maybe I'm just depressed about the shoulder pain.

Shoulder pain... two days already. I couldn't even sleep well. I couldn't turn in the bed or I woke up feeling the sharp pain while I was turning... :~~
Went to see physical therapy. She said she has to do an experiment to see if it's the neck causing the shoulder pain or if it's the shoulder problem only.
Now, most parts of my body are in trouble. My bones are falling apart...

Now, I know how to make sushi. A Japanese friend gave us a lecture last Sunday. I made two rolls. :D
***
Was busy in the lab the whole day. I have to learn to use Remark Office to scan questionnaires to reduce manual data entry. I first came across this software when I was in HKIEd... Already 7 years ago...
Hopefully I can figure out how it works soon. It had an error message all the time and the scanner wouldn't work. Finally it seems to be working by the end of today. Will try again tomorrow.
Feels like time flies so fast but life moves only little by little...

Tokyo Tower
http://www.fujitv.co.jp/en/program/new_prog/d_tokyotower.html
I was watching the fourth episode... Masaya had his cartoon published in the magazine and his mother was thrilled...
I had my writings in Varisty, Wen Wei Po, and Metro. In fact, my writing was first published in Ming Pao when I was in F. 4. It's a complaint letter.
I never imagine having things published in the media is an achievement. For me, it's just part of a job. And I never think a mother can be so happy about her son's achievement...
I must have missed a lot in life.
